The OESO Conferences are, of course,

• 10 hours of intense daily work during 4 days,
• But, also the result of intensive, imaginative planning of “cultural and social events” that we wish each time to be original and memorable. Different leads have already been explored in Como, and we can already say that, once again, we will not let you down.

Opening Ceremony

• Teatro Sociale di Como – Saturday, September 1, 2012 – 6.30 pm

To welcome the Congress, OESO has chosen the “Teatro Sociale” in Como.
 It’s behind the Duomo, and its architecture, as a Greek temple, will invite us to share a privileged moment.
 In this 18th Century building, strains of classical Italian opera and dance will put OESO’s guests in the mood for the 4 day ”Avventura Italiana” on the shores of the Lake Como, in the romanticism and extraordinary beauty of one of the most fascinating scenic places in the world.

The old red curtain of Teatro Sociale guards the memories of Opera famous voices, of perceptible Dancing bodies, of endless emotions of Music. The old guardian of the theatre, aware of all its secrets, lives an ideal journey, leading the audience ‘beyond the curtain’. A poetical and visionary journey, on the traces of the  artists that have been here, revealing the soul of the place and the rhythm of time, in the everlasting emotion combining and blending stage and audience.

Gala Evening

• at Villa Erba – Monday, September 3, 2012 – 8.00 pm

A dazzling evening "Belle Epoque",  evocating Luchino Visconti movie “The Leopard” (Il Gattopardo – 1963) during which you will participate to a Waltz Contest !

You can’t imagine the beauty of this spot, and the extraordinary, magnificent atmosphere of the interior…

The Gala dinner will be held at the Villa Erba, a mansion built in the late 19th Century with its private dock on the Lake Como, which was  the scene of elaborate receptions with prestigious guests from the cultural, political, and industrial worlds of that time.
 In the 1920s, the Villa passed to Carla Erba who became the wife of Duke Giuseppe Visconti of Modrone, the parents of of the renowned director Luchino Visconti, who lived in the Villa.

You, at the OESO Gala, will be special guest of Mr Jean-Marc Droulers, the master of the place.
 You will attend a “Belle Epoque” evening where you will dine and dance in the splendid ballroom in which the final grand scene was shot for the greatest of Visconti’s films, the 1963 “The Leopard”.
 For the occasion, men will be expected to have a mustache, and women to come with a hair adornment.


Dress code: Any “Gala” attire acceptable.

Como City Tour

Como, the lake’s capital town, surrounded by hills and mountains, lies on the tip of the south western branch. It boasts several artistic monuments from different historical periods. This itinerary includes the Cathedral and its magnificent interiors, the Broletto Palace, the Romanic Basilica of San Fedele and its homonymous small Piazza, Porta Torre, the city main door, and the city’s walls. Walking down the medieval neighbourhood of the Cortesella, you’ll reach Piazza Volta and the lake promenade with its beautiful Neoclassical Villas

Lake Cruise 1 – Villas & Gardens Villas Balbaniello & Carlotta

The lake must be seen from the lake.
Private cruise on the most enchanting and romantic lake in Italy. While cruising, it will be possible to admire all the most beautiful and important villas which dot the lake shores. From Villa Olmo to Villa d’Este, Villa Erba former home of Luchino Visconti, Villa Fontanelle of the Versace family, Villa Oleandra of Mr. Clooney, the top luxury Villa Cassinella of Mr. Branson. Stop for visits at the masterpiece of Villa Balbianello, natural setting for Star Wars, Casino Royale and a Month by the Lake, with its magic atmosphere and its remote location on the top of a promontory and at Villa Carlotta, with the superb botanic garden and the statues of Canova.

The visit to Villa Balbianello, only gardens, last 45 minutes. The visit to Villa Carlotta last 75 minutes. Always by boat, back to Como. All boats have seats at disposal inside and outside

Lake Cruise 2 – Bellagio and Varenna

A fantastic cruise dedicated to the most beautiful villages of Lake Como: Bellagio and Varenna.
During the navigation it is possible to admire all the most beautiful Villas of the lake, as described in program “Villas and Gardens”. The stops for sightseeing will be in Bellagio, known as “the pearl of the lake” with all its numerous shops spread along the typical stairs. Following stop in Varenna, another enchanting and picturesque place, where to stroll around and sip a drink admiring a wonderful scenery. Always by boat, back to Como.
