The OESO Foundation
The OESO Foundation aims to foster research and development in the field of digestive diseases. To reach its objective, its mission is, through the OESO Association:
The Biennial Conferences
World Congresses every 2 years, each bringing together about a thousand delegates from 60 to 70 countries, each dealing with ONE topic in esophagology dissected into hundreds of sharp questions, according to the original, specific OESO format.
About OESO
OESO is a scientific Organization created in 1978 for a multi-disciplinary learned activity devoted to Esophagology.
OESO undertakes its scientific activities under the auspices of UNESCO:
OESO renders tangible, and directly useful in daily practice, by use of new technologies of communication, the very specific achievement of OESO's network of Excellence bringing together, in 19 disciplines, prominent representatives of Gastroenterology from the world over.
The OESO Platform of Esophagology
(Extracts from the basic document )
The focus on Esophagology has led OESO, since its founding, to set a standard for innovation. The primary interest of what is being built in this international, multidisciplinary platform of Pilot Centers of Excellence in Esophagology lies in its innovative approach to expand knowledge across the disciplines related to one organ, the esophagus, and to share this knowledge in a way that will ultimately benefit patients.
The innovative setting up of an Inter-University, Multidisciplinary Platform of Esophagology anchored at the University of Geneva represents the latest endeavor for OESO.
The special bridge now established between OESO and Stanford University with the Stanford-MPIRE adds particular strength to the project which has already attained its first stages of completion.
The accelerating current turnover of technical acquisition of medical information requires an evolutionary approach of system design and of development now available, to cope with the expansion of the technologies of information without loss of performance.
This is the invaluable key to success of the OESO – Stanford-MPIRE project, which benefits at the outset from state of the art structures allowing for efficient training on new devices, with teams committed to controlling and updating knowledge bases and equipment, in order to contribute to innovation in daily practice, and participate in a multidisciplinary network of second opinion.
The development of a program of multi-disciplinary, theoretical and practical education,
will result in the setting up of an international platform for interactive exchanges between clinicians, researchers, and engineers, providing high level qualified training and expertise in Esophagology, with certification and labeling of Institutions offering the highest quality clinical care in Esophagology.
